LVP stands for luxury vinyl plank and LVT is luxury vinyl tile. It is a multi-layer wood/tile-looking plank consisting of four layers. It has a high-density foam backing, a core that is typically 70% stone and 30% PVC, a decorative layer that is a high-definition print that comes in multiple styles and colors, and a final “wear” layer that gives it excellent durability. Both are timeless and beautiful. More often than not, it comes down to what style someone is looking for. Solid wood floors have that “seamless” look but typically are sold in narrower widths due to stability. However, they can be re-sanded two or three times throughout the life of the floor. Engineered floors consist of a solid wood wear layer crosslayed onto six or nine-layer plywood backing, which makes engineered wood roughly 75% more stable than solid wood.
